It is a pleasure to thank the organizers, sponsors, and volunteers for once again putting together a spectacular Canada Day celebration and parade in picturesque Port Credit. ‘Paint the Town Red’ is the signature Canada Day event in Mississauga and it is an honour to be the Councillor of this wonderful community.
Although each Canada Day celebration is special, this year’s will be very poignant as it will be the last year that Mayor McCallion will march in the parade as Mayor of our great City. Needless to say, when Johnny Bozzo approached me with the idea of renaming the Port Credit ‘Paint the Town Red’ arade to the Hazel McCallion Canada Day Parade, I was overjoyed.
The Parade is one of the Mayor’s favourite Canada Day Celebrations and she noted in Council “The Canada Day cake that La Villa Bakery bakes, is the biggest cake I’ve ever seen!” On behalf of the residents of Ward One and my colleagues on Council I would like to applaud Johnny and his team of volunteers for this terrific dedication to our Mayor.
Best wishes to everyone visiting Port Credit today for Canada Day and we hope you will return throughout the year to enjoy our beautiful village by the lake.
Have a happy and safe Canada Day!
Councillor Ward One,
